It all started with a simple question…

“What’s your favorite dessert?”

My wife didn’t hesitate… she said peach cobbler.
So I called my aunt, got my grandmother’s recipe, and made it for her. She loved it… and for a few years, that was just our thing.

Until one day I asked:

“Is this the best peach cobbler you’ve ever had?”
and she said…

“Oh no… the best one was Aunt Hazel’s.”

That moment changed everything.

A Ten-Year Mission

Nobody in the family could explain exactly how Aunt Hazel made hers.
My wife just remembered one thing…

“You can taste the cobbler in every bite.”

For years, I experimented.
Tweaked. Failed.
Started again.
Failed again.
And again.

Every attempt got me a little closer… but never all the way.

Then one day, at a small local bakery, I tasted a butter roll and a peach cobbler together…and something clicked. The flavor, the texture, the method… it all matched the stories I had been chasing for years.

I went home, changed my entire process from scratch, and baked another cobbler.

When my wife’s grandmother tasted it, she said:

“Yep. That’s Aunt Hazel’s.”

After ten years of stubborn, obsessive testing…
I had finally recreated it.
